Urban Rebounder Folding Trampoline Workout System Reviews

Review by Zulu Warrior:

This is my 3rd rebounder. This is probably the best quality version. I weigh 220 plus pounds. People buy equip like this and expect miracle results in 2-3 sessions. It doesn’t work like that. But if you work out every other day for 2-3 weeks, you will see results in the mirror. I work out with 2-5 lb freeweights. The cut(s) you get from this you can’t get anywhere. I’ve been rebounding off/on since 1995.

There is marketing. There is hype. Is it all true? Mostly yes. You probably can’t buy a more user friendly piece of work out equip. Yes, it gets boring. But mix it up with jogging, treadmill, swimming, etc. and you get a whole package.

My 5 yr old watches the video and imitates the instructor verbatim. He’s amazing with it. He has super discipline. My kid, that is.

There are studies on this and how it activates a gland (name escapes me) that increases the flow of getting rid of toxins in your system. There are other attributes associated, such as vision, balance, etc. It may be more true for some, than others. But for under 0, you are getting an investment in a machine/tool that doesn’t really compare to anything prior.

The construction is decent. When I saw the quality/price, I threw out my old one (which was still in workable condition) and started off with this.

Review by amazon customer:

I have read a lot of reviews for rebounders were people had problems with the springs breaking or coming off. To my relief this hasn’t been a problem for me (knock on wood). I use my rebounder regularly (4-6 times a week) so it’s not from lack of use! I was a little nervouse opening it up, but no problems there either, tho I will admit I don’t fold it back down – I just store it set up.

As for the work out – I was surprised at how good it is. I use the gym regularly – but still found my self a bit whipped by the cardio the first time I tried it. It doesn’t leave me in pain, but I can “feel” I’ve had a decent work out.If you’re not used to exercise I would suggest starting off easy (read as: don’t bounce, just go through the motions as best you can) and be sure to stretch afterwards to avoid hurting/soreness.

I’m really diggin’ it – at first I felt silly on it, but it saves me time by not having to always go to the gym, and I’ve shed some weight, which is always a good thing! No problems here!

Review by P. Miller:

Liked the compilation generally. Three of the four are around 30 minutes. Only the one that uses the aerobic moves from the 80s is longer and the most intense–and my personal favorite. The latin one is fun but so short as to not be a great workout. I receommend the tape because of the variety. When I want a longer workout I do a couple of them or use ankle weights for a more intense workout.

Review by Tiny Milli Bug:

This compilation does offer a good variety of workouts. The music in all four videos is very nice. Kick bound is my favorite just because Traci is the instructor. I haven’t tried the Hi-Lo because it seems more for the advanced type and I’m just not quite there yet. I like doing the Latin bound on days when I’m not feeling very up to exersicing because its slow paced yet fun and upbeat. Interval bound is a nice change too, its more of a sporty type thing but its still fun.

Urban Rebounding Workout DVD, Compilation 1 Reviews

Review by S. Burton:

I just got this in the mail today. I’ve had a mini-trampoline for many years and have always loved messing around on it, but I’m the type of person who benefits from instruction. I am glad to see these workouts.

They tell you to use their Urban Rebounder, but my no-name model from Sears works fine. I don’t know if I could add the stability bar on to it, but I don’t think I’ll need to use that.

I started at the beginning and did the first workout: First-Timers. It was so difficult I couldn’t believe it. They slowed everything down so much that it was no fun and I was completely out of breath. I had to take jogging breaks to catch my breath. However, the First-Timers workout only needs to be gone through one time, if that. I think you can learn all the basics from the second workout: The Basic.

The Basic workout was really fun and up to tempo (unlike the First-Timers). It was exactly what I was hoping for: a good workout on the mini-tramp. It included a warm up, cardio section, jogging/sprinting section, cool down, and abs workout (which I thought was pretty tough). The moves were all basic but the warm up and cool down had some variety not included in the cardio section.

This disc includes 6 workouts, not four. They are: First-Timers, Basic Program, Intermediate, Advanced, Oldies But Goodies (for Seniors), and Abdominal Bound.

I haven’t tried the other four yet, but the other reviewer covered the Advanced program and the fundamental outline of all the programs. I did look at the workout for seniors. The music for it is also very slow so I don’t know if it will be a fun workout. It has a different instructor (JoJo) who is very interesting.

The main instructor, JB Berns, puts me in mind of the martial arts instructor from Napoleon Dynamite, but he’s not that bad. He’s actually kind of funny. He does take the name of the Lord in vain twice in First-Timers and once in Basic. I hope that will not continue into the other programs. You’d think someone would have told him . . . (unless they didn’t want their face smashed?)

He mentions checking your heart rate one time, but gave no time to do so. I’m glad he mentioned it because I was so focused on the moves that I didn’t realize how elevated my heart rate was. After that, I had to modify the moves myself to keep my heart rate down. They had five people on camera; you’d think one of them could have demonstrated some modifications.

Sometimes he gives good instructions on form, but other times none. He says, “use good form,” but doesn’t explicate. If you are a beginner you will need to learn about form from other fitness instructors (Karen Voight being the best I know of).

The demonstrators are all wearing gym shoes, so I wore mine. I tried the cool down barefoot because my feet were hot, but I think it’s better to wear shoes for the workout.

I’d have to say that maybe this DVD only deserves three stars because of its weaknesses, but I gave it four because it’s unique (are there any other rebounder DVDs out there?) and because it’s a good value. You get six workouts on one disc.

There are other compilations too, with different instructors, including ballet, dance, pilates (core), African, Latin, kick, boxing, hip hop, hi-lo, and stretching. I’m looking forward to trying some of those.

Review by Kristine M. Mestaz:

I got this DVD when I first got the Urban Rebounder. Since I had nothing else to compare it to, I went with it. You MUST start at the beginning if you’ve never done this workout before. Even though the choreography is very basic, there’s still lots of safety tips and basic moves that must be learned. I’m pleased to say after just one month of using my rebounder I was using the advanced routine. Each routine ends with strenth and ab work which I was not impressed with. However, the cardio portion is well worth the money. After three months of the advanced routine, I got bored! Luckily, there are more compilations. Even though I liked compilation 3 better, I’m glad I started with #1 simply for the more complete instruction.

Urban Rebounder Cable Flex with DVD Reviews

Review by Zakhary Alper:

This is a great program for working out without any equipment. I am on the business trip right now and have very little time for exercise – I am working late, then go to late dinners with colleagues. So the good part about this DVD is that the segments for each body area are about 15 minutes long and that is super convenient to fit it into my schedule. And the work outs are enjoyable.

Review by Lena, LMT:

When this was on VHS it was known as the “Freedom Exercise System” but NOT the “Freedom Restoration System”

Main Menu has the 7 day/choice programs: Leg, chest, shoulder, back, arm, abs & stretch. It also has previews of his other programs & a text about him (20 yeas or martial arts)

Each day is broken down to:

SHOW OPEN – Trailer, JB EXPLAINS – JB describing the system (JB announcing this contains, “I specifically designed isometric & iso-tonic postures along w/slow motion training, that is coupled with static contraction techniques… what I call self-resistance training. Each workout has 10 postures that take 15 min each.”), HELPFUL HINTS – (on the general guidlines about the workout system) which is the same for all 7 days. All that is 5 min you cn skip on the menu. INSTRUCTION – 5 min – tells you about the 10 postures for each of the days & therefore different. It’s helpful to watch the first time. WORKOUT – 15 min – also has a 2 min self-massage before & after. He has you hold for each pose for 8 seconds, release & re-contract 8x for each posture & each side.

Same set as his Martial Arts workout which is lime green & red accents w/wood floors. He’s alone for instruction, but has 2 women behind him (2 different women for each day) for the workout. He has high energy & enthusiasm which helps since the music is the usual canned/looped beat dance music.

ABS

Mostly standing crunches. The only ones I liked was turning the elbow in to do the obliques & the reaching to one side stretch. Instead of releasing, I just held it for the whole posture time. I still didn’t feel it or feel I even worked my abs at all the next day.

ARMS

Mostly triceps, then biceps, but has wrist ones which is great. This reminded me more of Callenetics & physical therapy movements & my kinesiology class. He reminds you to contract abs, so I sustained a held not all the way deep horse stance/plie for a large part of the workout to work my legs/abs. I have weak arms, so tried this after the abs & I felt it mostly in my legs & wrist/forearms. I only felt like I did a little toning the next day, no soreness with use.

LEGS

Mostly all standing & contracting either both legs or one leg at a time. Some leg pointing to other side reminescient of ballet that would work. It was until after a few postures on the chair that he works the outter & inner thighs last using hand resistance on the knees that I saw would be of any benefit. I tried that, but felt it more in my arms since my legs are very strong.

STRETCH – 15 min

While steated, the usual warm-up or cool-down stretches on most workouts including neck, tricep & torso stereches. Laying down, two yoga knee to side reclinded spinal twists, single knee to chest, another yoga knee to side reclinded spinal twist, both knees to chest, knee to chest but resisted with palms to strengthen the legs. In seated crossed legs, torso fwd bend, butterfly, both straight leg seated fwd bend & ends w/single leg seated fwd bend.

I did abs & arms in one shot & only skimmed the stretching. This is a very boring workout, then again, I detest toning workouts w/dumbells & this is the same, except using your own body resistance. JB helps with an excited teaching & doing this as fast as he can to keep the boredom down, but still boring/easy for me. I own many yoga workouts, so the stretching is child’s play to me. This would be good for those who are beginners or low muscle strength, had recent surgary & can’t do the usual toning workouts, or those traveling. For toning, I would have felt a yoga or pilates workout MUCH more. Rodney Yee’s Yoga Burn I felt soreness w/use for two days on my arms.

Needak Softbounce Nonfolding Rebounder Reviews

Review by A. Britt:

I had been exercising on a cheap rebounder (purchased from K-Mart) and liked it enough to stick with it, but then I heard about the “soft-bounce”

of the Needak and decided to make the investment. I’m so glad I did as the difference is like night and day! It truly is like bouncing on a cloud and because it makes exercising so enjoyable I have faithfully stuck to using this rebounder every day since I purchase it 3 months ago. I know the company does not make any health claims, but since I’ve

been using this, I no longer suffer from sciatica and my bursitis pain

went away! I hearitly recommend this.

Review by Joshua L. Whitehall:

I purchased this item about 3 months ago. I am 275 lbs. and use it about 3-4 hours per week. Excellent rebounder. No problems with it at all. I have used other rebounders before and they either come loose from the pad or the pad tears. No such issues with this rebounder. Thanks for building a great product, Needak.

Urban Rebounding Workout DVD, Compilation 2 Reviews

Review by K. Yocca:

This is an okay DVD. After working out to the compilation 1 DVD for about a month, I was ready to move on to something different. The first workout I tried was the core bound which was a little too challenging. It was hard to follow what she was doing. Next workout I attempted was the Hip Hop Bound. I was just starting to get the hang of it and it ended. It is too short. The workout only lasted about 10 minutes, not long enough. I did enjoy the dance bound as well as the box and bound. Traci can be a little too enthusiastic for me, but she does a good job. One thing I would really love to see on this entire series is a listing of the length of each workout. It would be easier for me to determine which workout I wanted to do if I knew how long it was. I really hated that I wasted my time even doing the Hip Hop bound, I didn’t have time to break a sweat.

Review by Tiny Milli Bug:

This is one of my favorite work out videos. I love dance bound. In fact, I’ll be doing it tomorrow. Traci is one of my favorites in the urban rebounding team. She is fun and very entergetic.

Box and bound is a really nice change from all the other videos. I don’t really like the instructer much. But, I still really enjoy the workout.

Core bound is great! However, it is not recomended by me for the beginners. It is a tough work out!

Well hip-hop……it is just different. That’s all I have to say. I don’t like it much. But, it’s a change in the same old same old work out.
