Trampoline pads are considered as the most important part of a trampoline assembly. It plays an important role in maintaining safety of trampoline users. Trampoline or frame pads prevent the trampoline users from injuries and metal-contact abrasion. Tough trampoline pads will secure the straps in place and enough coverage is required over the metal springs and framework. Typical trampoline users may be children to enthusiast adults to professional gymnasts and acrobats.

Several factors usually considered to determine if the level of safety contributed by trampoline pads is good enough are the following: foam thickness, the fabrics used by the pads and pad coverage over the metal springs. It is important that the foam thickness will render the acceptable benchmark for shock absorption. There are occasions, especially for children during their play time to climb and jump on the trampoline two at a time, sometimes even more. During this “stress tests”, high-quality and high grade foam should exhibit satisfactory results.

Figure 1: Safety pads cover the coiled springs for added protection

Sometimes, too much water absorption and retention may lead to foam deterioration. Other times, the foam might turn into a soft mash. Occasionally, mildews may become present due to abundant availability of water inside the foam. All these will lead to constant pad replacement which may prove tp be costly than necessary. As such, to protect the foam, some trampoline pads are covered with stretchable vinyl to make it water-resistant. The foam itself should be of high grade that is soft enough for the jumpers yet hard enough to resist the most common forms of damage. The covering vinyl in turn is chemically treated to resist the sun’s harmful UV rays so that the vinyl does not melt even when exposed under the sun for long periods of time.

Enough pad coverage is required to prevent users from sustaining injuries brought by incidental exposing of metal springs. Good pad coverage includes the trampoline framework and the springs. The pad is attached to the metal frame using straps. Pad coverage does not only ensure the safety of jumpers but of the whole assembly itself. The pads should also fit properly and secure enough so that it will not turn or move along the trampoline’s perimeter by force.

There are at least three shapes available for trampoline pads: round, rectangle or square and octagon pads.

Due to constant use and exposure to natural elements, trampoline pads may have unavoidable wears and tears. Patching and repairs may only go for some time and that replacement may become inevitable.

When looking for replacement of trampoline pads, it is important to determine the quality without severely denting the pocket. Trampoline pads may come in different weight variants. The fabric that covers the foam needs to be moisture- and UV-resistant to resist fabric crinkling and it needs to be strong enough to hold the straps without perforation.

Trampoline users do not need to purchase the replacement pads from the trampoline manufacturers. There are generic brands that will prove sufficient to the requirements of jumpers.

Trampoline pads should last for more than two years during normal use. As such, when purchasing trampolines, make sure that it comes with adequate warranty coverage in case premature replacement becomes necessary. Keep in mind what are the limitations and capacity restrictions of the trampolines so that users would be able to enjoy the benefits of being airborne (even for an instant), for a much longer time.

Much like see-saws and swings, trampolines are general household toys used by children and adults alike for playing. Some have found health benefits from exercising using trampolines such as cardio work-outs and lower body muscular strengthening.

There are various shapes one can choose when buying a trampoline. There are circular trampolines designed to keep the person in line with the center spot for a more straight line jump. There are rectangular trampolines which allow the user to jump at a much higher peak. And there are square trampolines which can readily fit the limited space in your house or backyard.

Figure 1: A perfect square trampoline

You might think that square trampolines are just the same as the rectangular ones. Truth be told, the answer is both a yes and a no. Yes, they are relatively the same. The thrust created due to varying forces of the spring is more powerful for both square and rectangular trampolines when compared to circular or octagonal ones. They are roughly the same shape, having four corners and four sides. And no, they are not the same in terms of area and size. A square trampoline will normally take up less space than its rectangular counterparts.

Another major contrasting difference between a rectangle and a square trampoline is the level of bouncing force created. You should know that the reason why a jumper can bounce on any trampoline surface is not because of the fabric or trampoline mat. It is not even elastic. In fact, if the fabric was elastic, it will lead to problems such as stretching and hitting the bottom floor unintentionally.

The driving force that makes people bounce on trampolines are the coiled metal springs. These springs are attached to the metal framework and on to the trampoline mat. In rectangular trampolines, the effect of the distance between these springs creates a more powerful thrust when the mat is hit. The result is a much higher bounce. This also occurs in square trampolines but the magnitude is slightly lower. The equal distances between the springs make the mat more rigid and more stable. This is why gymnasts choose rectangular trampolines over any other trampoline shapes. Gymnasts need a greater boost of height to perform their airborne maneuvers and tricks.

These characteristics of rigidity and stability of a square trampoline is what makes them the popular choice among parents and adults for their kids. Most parents do not want their kids going higher than necessary. This will also prevent the kids from hurting themselves or falling awkward due to unstable jumps.

It is common to find a foldable or detachable square trampoline. This design enables owners to easily store and carry the trampolines anywhere, at anytime.

Like any other trampolines, a square trampoline is built to last. However, due to continued usage and normal wear or tear, replacements may become inevitable. You may secure your warranty benefits to replace parts such as mats. In case that the square trampoline has already exceeded its warranty coverage, you may buy the replacement parts directly from the manufacturers or from retailers. Ensure that the quality of replacement parts is tested to prevent mishaps and accidents from trampolines.

Trampoline nets, also known as net enclosures, trampoline enclosures and trampoline safety nets, are added protection put up around the trampoline to prevent jumpers from awkward falling off.

First, what is a trampoline?

A trampoline is a piece of equipment that allows the user to bounce, or rebound, from the top surface. The trampoline consists of a bed of tough woven material, called trampoline mat, attached by metal springs to a circular or rectangular frame. It has legs around the frame that raise it as much as four feet above the ground. Both the frame and the springs are foam-padded to protect the user.

The most common precautionary measure is to allow only one user on a trampoline at a time and close supervision is necessary.

Why are trampoline nets necessary?

Figure 1: Trampoline Nets are safety devices to protect jumpers

Trampoline nets provide additional safety protection especially for children during playing and jumping around. These nets will prevent users from falling off outside the trampoline. Some trampolines come with net enclosures, some do not since it is considered as a supplementary device by manufacturers and suppliers. However, some studies suggest that you are likely to fall as much as three times from riding a bicycle compared from bouncing off to the ground from a trampoline. Nonetheless, safety remains the premise of trampoline nets.

If trampoline safety nets are auxiliary devices, how much added cost will it be?

Some trampoline safety nets costs around $160 or more, depending on the net’s size, length and materials used. Like the normal trampoline where you can assemble on your own, net enclosures also come up with assembly instructions that you can follow.

Can a novice like me do somersaults since I have trampoline nets?

The cage-like appearance of trampoline nets intention is to minimize injuries and incidents. However, there is no guarantee that jumpers, especially without proper supervision and training can do exhibitions in the pretense of “The trampoline safety nets will catch me if I fall” motto,

So when can I do back flips and impress my friends?

Professional supervision and adequate training is necessary in order for you to learn and grab the basics of jumping maneuvers. You would have to attend a proper course and physically prepare yourself so that you would have to reduce the risk of landing flat in your face. The trampoline safety nets can only go so far in providing support and protection. The initiative should come from the trampoline users themselves.

The first rule in trampoline jumping is to use it one at a time. Unsynchronized jumping by two or more person can lead to unintentional bumping off to each other.

Where should I setup my trampoline and my trampoline safety net?

Be sure to setup your trampoline in even flooring. Maintain at least 3 feet distance from all sides against obstructions. The ceiling height should be a minimum of 6 feet. The trampoline safety net should be tucked in between the trampoline pad and the metal frame to ensure that it is snug and fit.

Any other pointers or tips in using my trampoline?

Never jump off out of the trampoline so that you would not sprain your ankle from hitting a solid ground. Try to land in the center of the trampoline mat during jumps and slight deviations should be corrected immediately. Do not attempt to perform a new skill without initial training and guardianship of qualified personnel.

Trampolines are devices which consist of a mat of interwoven fabric, a steel (metal) frame and coiled springs. The fabric is stretched over the metal frame. The springs are attached both to the fabric and the frame. People jump on the trampolines for physical or recreational purposes.

There are two types of trampoline based on functionality and uses. The first is for recreational purposes and may have several trampoline shapes other than the rectangular. The most common are circular and octagonal. Rectangle trampolines can also be used for recreational purposes.

The second is for the competitive type. Here, the most desired shape is only rectangular.

Figure 1: Examples of rectangle trampoline

Rectangle trampoline in particular, is specifically designed to give the jumper the highest bounce among all other available shapes. The reason behind this design is the power of springs attached to the rectangular mat. The springs work at varying rate upon jumping and bouncing movement. These movements allow the springs to give quick responses which results in a more robust force of lift. This is the main reason why most gymnasts and cheerleading enthusiasts choose rectangular trampolines. However, the general rule of thumb that only one person at any given time should be on the trampoline still applies to this design.

Another distinguishing characteristic of a rectangle trampoline is that it does not have a so-called “center” spot. Circular or octagonal-shaped trampolines have the tendency to control the bounce of the jumper. The jumper themselves need to be constantly aware that they have to jump in line with the center spot and any deviation must be instantly corrected. The reason is that when a jumper deviates from the center spot, the landing may become unstable and would risk physical injuries and physiological stress. This is not the case for rectangular trampolines. The jumper has full control of the jumps and has control of where they would want to land and where to jump again.

Circular trampolines, on the other hand are much more suitable for toddlers and children. All of the springs work at the same times which create a harmonious effect of stable rebound.

Given that a rectangle trampoline can give a higher bounce than other trampoline shapes, complacency of safety rules should not be allowed. First rule is that jumpers should not try to perform acrobatic styles without proper training, and exhibitions should only be permitted whenever certified and authorized personnel are present. There are cases when people have become paralyzed from the neck down due to accidents from jumping on trampolines.

In case of advanced maneuvers and airborne techniques, it is recommended to put in place a trampoline net enclosure to prevent the jumpers from landing outside the trampoline area. If in case the jumper has reached his highest peak and accidentally bounces off to the ground, he may land around three to four meters away from the trampoline area. This can cause serious injuries such as a broken leg or head concussion.

Multiple users can also endanger each other. Collisions occur and the people on the trampoline may be tossed in an unexpected track or maybe higher than desired. Nonetheless, with the right training and development, synchronized jumping on rectangle trampolines is possible.

Trampoline nets are known by other terms such as trampoline safety nets and net enclosures. These are manufactured safety devices which is either bought separately or included in a trampoline package upon purchase. The main intention of trampoline nets is to prevent bouncing people to fall off from the trampoline area.

Trampolines are equipments, much like swings and slides, meant to be enjoyed by people of any age. With trampolines, you may get to be airborne and feel weightless for a few seconds before landing back to the trampoline mat.

Figure 1: Trampoline with Net setup in the backyard

Normal trampolines have a sturdy metal framework that holds the coiled springs and the mat. The trampoline mats itself if not elastic. The reason for the so-called elasticity is brought by the minute coiling and uncoiling of metal springs. The trampoline mats, however are tough enough and non-slippery even when wet with sweat.

Most of the accidents related to trampoline activities come from unsupervised bouncing and falling outside the trampoline range. The latter is much more dangerous because the physical injuries usually receives from such fall ranges from minor abrasions to sprained ankles to fractured bones to neck and head injuries. As such, to prevent these mishaps, nets are secured throughout the trampoline’s perimeter.

Trampoline nets come in two types. The first one is much like the kind of netting found on baseball fields, only in a smaller dimension. The trampoline net is placed in the surrounding, a few inches from the trampoline edges. The second type is much more preferred as the nets are placed along the perimeter of the trampoline itself. The poles are attached on the metal frames and the trampoline nets are wound around it. The straps in the net secure the fastenings while the net itself is not let loose by tucking it in between the trampoline’s metal frame and the safety pads in place. The metal poles that serve as the net’s backbone are kept padded for added safety.

To prevent the injuries from unsupervised bouncing, users should know the basics of using trampolines. The general rule is that on smaller trampolines, no more than one person should be allowed at the same time. This is to prevent accidental collisions which could result to being thrown off and lose balance. In case that the trampoline can hold more than one people, then strict monitoring and control should be used. Likewise, allow the jumpers to have the necessary skills and trainings prior to performing new tricks or doing synchronized acts on trampolines.

Some would say that trampoline nets boost the confidence of even trampoline users, particularly those who are doing it for the first time. The sense of security and protection is sincerely felt. As this may be the case, it is vitally important to reiterate the ground rules in using trampolines. Complacency and disregard to instructions will still result to unfortunate events even though the whole trampoline is covered with the most sophisticated trampoline net available. No safety device can replace adequate knowledge on risk factors and the means to avoid them as much as possible.

Trampolines have gained popularity across the world primarily due to its promised enjoyment. Nothing beats the experience of being on the air, no matter how instantaneous it may seem. The longer you stay on air, the more tricks and actions you can do. Children, in particular, have immensely taken pleasure from bouncing up and down on trampolines.

If you are still one of those who do not own a trampoline, fret no more. Some trampolines for sale costs for just $130, depending on the size, material quality, warranty coverage and auxiliary parts.

So how do you know if the trampolines for sale are safe enough for use?

As an intelligent buyer, you should ask questions prior purchasing trampolines, or any equipment for that matter. The first thing that you should know is what are your requirements? Why do you want to buy trampolines? What do you intend to do and how long are you planning to use trampolines?

Cheap trampolines for sale do not necessarily translate to low product quality. For you to establish if the trampolines you want will not endanger you and your family’s safety, you should know the basic trampoline specifications.

Trampolines are generally composed of three main parts –the steel framework, the jumping mat also called trampoline bed and the metal coiled springs.

The trampoline frames should be galvanized steel, preferably made out of 14 gauge quality. Galvanizing slows down the process of oxidation. Oxidation by-product is usually in the form of rust or corrosions. As we all know, rusting might weaken the steel and break it down prematurely. Due to normal use, the metals get exposed to natural elements that may wear down the galvanized surface. As such, ask the seller if the exposed metal parts are chemically treated to be rust-proof. You may also inquire the effective means to reduce the possibility of rusting.

Figure 1: Cheap trampolines must still be high in quality

Check also the jumping mat. Inquire if the material is waterproof or gets slippery when wet. Slippage due to sweat and water in the mat can yield to unwanted incidents and physical injuries while bouncing on the trampoline mat.

The most important part that you should examine is the coiled springs. The coiled springs provide the power of lift of the jumping mat. See to it that the length of each coiled spring must be longer than 7 inches. Smaller springs will make the mat stiff and harder to bounce. Too long will make you hit the bottom floor.

You may opt to purchase trampolines safety pad, in case that it is not included in the product package. Safety pads envelope the edges of the metal framework, completely covering the exposed coiled springs. Ensure that the thickness of your safety pad is at least 1.5 inches and it does not taper off at the periphery.

Some trampolines for sale come with a warranty. There are manufacturers who provide warranty coverage for the trampoline framework for 10 years, while the fabric mat, pads and springs is around 2 years.

If you do all the recommended actions above, rest assured that when you purchase trampolines for sale, you will be getting your money’s worth.

Many people have found the enjoyment of defying gravity, even for just a few seconds using trampolines. Many have attempted to perform skills and eye-popping maneuvers such as trained acrobats and gymnasts. This has lead to an increase in public enthusiasm, particularly children and teens. As such, trampolines have become a common household toy, next to swings and see-saws. However, due to increase of trampoline-related incidents around the world has lead to development of more stringent safety rules and hazard protection. One of these are trampoline nets.

Trampoline net is a safety device set up around a trampoline to reduce the risk of acquiring injuries and other related unwanted and untoward incidents to the trampoline user.

Figure 1: Trampoline Net prevents jumpers from falling out of the trampoline area

Some may deem trampoline nets as unnecessary and it would just entail additional cost in terms of procuring, maintenance and replacements. They thought that jumpers should be responsible and sensible enough to take care of themselves otherwise they would be a hazard to themselves as well as to those around them.

Trampoline net is not a fool-proof device. It is a verifiable fact that the jumpers should be aware of all safety issues and that proper monitoring is required when using trampolines. However, it is also a provable fact that trampoline nets do increase the safety level compared to bare trampoline setups.

The nets give tough support for jumpers in case of bouncing off from the trampoline and into the ground. This is essential especially if the jumpers are young children and toddlers. Some cases of bouncing off to the ground have resulted to broken bones and neck, paralysis and in worst accidents, even death. The poles used to hold the nets are padded to prevent added injury in case of contact.

However, this does not mean that children or the parents or any other user should be complacent with trampolines with net enclosures. Use only trampolines with authorized personnel or with the guidance of adults. It is also important to read on pointers and tips on how to use trampolines, especially on the general guidelines so that users may be able to enjoy the benefits and the fun.

There are two types of trampoline nets – attached or free standing.

Attached trampoline nets are tucked in between pads and the metal frame. This prevents accidental hitting onto the cold and hard frame as well as from getting the finger and toes pinched in the metal springs. Free standing trampoline nets create additional space around the trampoline perimeter. In general, it is much favorable to use a attached trampoline net.

There are several shapes and sizes available for a good trampoline net. Some may start from a price of $150 and up, depending on net and metal pole quality.

When purchasing for trampoline nets, be sure to measure first the size of your trampoline. Some manufacturers claim that generic and branded trampolines nets can fit any trampoline shapes but this is not always the case. As such, it is important to determine which size is befitting to your trampolines so that it may serve its purpose well.

Trampolines are equipment used mainly for recreational purposes. The predecessors of modern trampoline as we know today came from spring-loaded planks.

Nowadays, specially designed and customized trampolines are found in fitness gyms, competitions and acrobatic expeditions. For common household, a trampoline is a source of enjoyment while keeping the body fit and lean.

Many people have found that bouncing on trampolines yield health benefits such as improvement of heart and blood circulation system and building up the muscles. Because of this, many have realized the importance of taking care of the different trampoline parts in order for it to have a longer serviceable life.

Figure 1: Coiled Springs performs the most important function of a trampoline

Trampoline parts consist of a durable mat, a tough metal framework and a coiled spring. Other supplementary parts added for protection purposes are the safety pads and net enclosures.

The trampoline mat is made out of interwoven fabric designed to carry heavy loads without tearing apart. Slight elasticity is desired but too much will result to rubberlike quality. If this particular trampoline part becomes too elastic, the jumper’s stability might be compromised. Occasions like almost hitting the ground while on rebound to awkward jump height might occur.

This trampoline part, also called as bed or jumping mat, should be shock absorbent. It should also be able to resist water and moisture absorbency and must be able to withstand UV rays to prevent premature deterioration.

Next assembly of a trampoline part is the framework. There are several shapes commonly used such as octagonal or eight-sided and rectangular trampolines. Mini trampolines such as rebounders are normally circular in nature. For those who wanted trampolines but cannot accommodate large models may opt to choose square trampolines. These frameworks elevate the trampoline mat while keeping the balance of the entire assembly. Some of these frameworks are foldable or detachable for easier assembly and storage.

Some framework assemblies can be built up for 30 minutes, some longer. It depends on how large is the framework and how many people are working on it.

Perhaps considered as the most important trampoline part, the coiled springs provide the much needed boost by the jumpers. The mat is attached to these springs which in turn are attached to the frames. Heavy duty springs are made out of galvanized wire, which are favorable compared to chrome-plated springs. It is important that the springs maintain their resiliency and quality.

Normally, spring replacement is needed every two years. Much earlier is needed when rust begins to form or the coils begin to lose shape. It is also advisable to replace every set instead of going piece by piece.

Other trampoline parts such as net enclosures prevent the jumper from falling outside of the trampoline. The safety pads minimize the probable physical injuries through metal contact such as the framework and the springs. Trampoline covers protect the assembly from dirt and early wear and tear.

You may be able to purchase one trampoline part at any given time if you deem necessary. Always do routine visual checks on your trampoline parts to ensure that your safety, as well as the other who use it, is not compromised.

Urban rebounder trampolines are devices used by people who would like to undergo an exercise program. Normally, these trampolines come with a metal bar for arm and upper body exercises. Workouts videos are also available to jump start the exercise programs.

There are many health benefits from an urban rebounder program. First on the list is the strengthening of heart and improving blood circulation. Varying jumping methods on trampolines make up as an effective cardiovascular workout. The output is very similar to that of jogging, swimming and cycling exercises.

Studies also suggest that this urban rebounder program is good for bones and the risk of bone deterioration or having osteoporosis is reduced. People who have lower bone density and started in urban rebounder therapy have found that the progression of bone related problems generally declined. Those who have problems with joints such as ankles and knees have discovered that carefully monitored bouncing on urban rebounder has greatly improved their condition.

Figure 1: Common Urban Rebounder (Trampolines with Metal Bar)

The urban rebounder is also helpful to build up muscles, especially in the legs and lower part of the body. The constant motion stretches the muscles. Prior to jumping, the muscles contract to support the force of lift of the body. This repetitive stretching and contracting tones down and strengthen the muscles. Additional workouts such as body rotation while on the urban rebounder addresses other areas such as abdomen and lower back.

It was also noted that those who do urban rebounder regularly noticed an improvement on motor skills and coordination. The intense focus of the jumper to maintain balance, while doing different workouts on urban rebounder was found to be the main reason for this motor coordination enhancement.

Mainly due to the fact that bouncing on an urban rebounder is a heavy physical act, the body’s metabolism goes up and excess calories get burned in the process. The stored fat is also used, making the body lean and strong. As such, this is another effective slimming method without resorting to needles, pills or excessive dieting.

It was also said that during repeated jumping, the body’s numerous cells tends to release waste products. These “pulled” waste products go out into the blood stream and out of the body in the form of sweat. As such, the entire body gets detoxified in the process.

There are a lot of other exercise equipment whose intention and benefits is just as the same as that of an urban rebounder. Examples are treadmills and exercise bikes. The main advantage of using urban rebounder than other exercise equipment is that they are generally light, easy to assemble and portable to bring anywhere.

However, it is important to note that no matter what kind of equipment you might have, no matter how accessible these equipments are, and no matter how many workouts are available for you try, if you do not have the correct attitude and discipline, then all the effort and money spent will just go down the drain. It is important that you love what you do. Just have fun, fun, and fun, and you’ll be surprised that you are jumping your way towards a healthier you.

Trampoline safety net is an auxiliary attachment to trampolines to increase the margin of safety and minimize the occurrence of jumping-related concerns and incidents.

Since most trampoline safety nets do not come with the trampoline assembly itself, some concerns arise. Trampoline assemblies have written instructions which one can diligently follow to put it up but. This is not always the case for a trampoline safety net.

As such, to provide ease and minimal time in setting up your safety net, read on the following pointers.

Figure 1: Trampoline Safety Net Assembly

First, it is important to arrange the trampoline assembly away from any evident dangers such as uneven flooring or low ceiling if indoors. If you want to bring it outside, keep it away from exposed tree branches and mushy ground when rainy season begins. Low ceilings and tree branches may limit the jumping height to which the user desires. Or it may be accidentally hit by the jumpers causing head bumps and probably a stiff neck. Uneven flooring and soft ground soil will make the trampoline unstable.

In case that there is an instruction attached to trampoline safety net assembly, ensure that all written parts supposedly included in the package are available. If one is missing such as washers and bolt, notify your supplier right away.

Assuming that all the required materials are on hand, you will need handy tools such as a deep socket, and adjustable wrench and a ladder (when necessary due to height limitations).

Measure the outside perimeter of the trampoline. This measurement will be the basis for the trampoline safety net for cutting. Be sure to provide adjustments such as a couple of inches to as much as two feet on top of the measured value. This will enable you to cover the whole of trampoline without patching the safety nets. However, if you are still uncertain, you may use the whole net as a cover.

The poles will act as the base for the trampoline safety net. Attach one pole to the outside metal leg of the trampoline frame using the tools. Each pole should be around six feet in height above the trampoline assembly.

The trampoline safety net has a wider top connecting strap so you will know the proper orientation. Loop the straps around the poles and tuck the bottom part between the trampoline pads and the trampoline itself. Continue binding the strap until you reach the end of the net. Tie a knot to secure the straps in place.

Finally, survey the whole assembly. As the poles ramrod straight? Are the net tight enough and does not slack in the middle? Try to shake one side and see the effect on the whole trampoline safety net. If you think that it is strong enough to hold pressure then you should be proud of yourself.

You may purchase quality trampoline safety net or also known by others as trampoline enclosure, for as affordable as $160. The price goes up depending on the amount of coverage desired and the quality of materials used. Prior purchasing, ensure that the safety net is designed to cover the trampoline’s shape you have in your backyard. There are squares, rectangles, circulars and polygon-shaped trampolines. You may also seek suggestions and recommendations from your trampoline supplier. They will give you tips and help you out so that you can avoid pitfalls and other concerns.
